π Food Find Friday - Dec 15, 2023
If youβre new, every week, I dive into the yummy world of food and share some cool discoveries from the past 7 days.
.Letβs go!
π #1 Fast Food Faves
I'm usually not a fast-food guy, but hey, a tasty grilled chicken sandwich that's kind to your tummy and wallet? That's a win-win! Especially when you're on a road trip or need a quick bite. A nutritionist spills the beans on the healthy picks at Chick-fil-A.
π #2 Sourdough or Sourfaux?
I love sourdough bread. But you gotta watch out. Some stores label their bread 'sourdough' when it's loaded with extra stuff (like yeast and preservatives) to make it last longer. True sourdough needs just water, flour, and salt β no yeast! Fun fact: In Britain, there's a campaign for real bread and honest labels. Who wants to start this in the States?
π #3 Freezer Magic
My parents keep offering to buy me a garage fridge+freezer. (I continue to decline) Storing food in the freezer for a future date is a life-saver in running a family home kitchen. I just learned you can freeze deli meat, green onions and heavy cream. Who knew?
π #4 Holiday Treat Trivia
In the spirit of the holidays, did you know that people used to put fruit and vertical sticks of candy on Christmas trees? It was only until recent that the candy sticks got bent to be able to hang on a tree and hence forth called βcandy canesβ.
π #5 Sound of Love
There's this chef I follow whose smile lights up every time he cooks. His catchphrase, "sound of love," is just the best. Check out Chef Max Mariolaβs video on making pasta allβamatriciana.
Thatβs it for this week. Whatβd you think? Hit reply to share your own food finds β I'd love to include them here!
See you next Friday.
